The Supreme Court of India just stayed the University Grants Commission's (UGC) new equity regulations for 2026, leading to heated debates across campuses and newsrooms. These guidelines were notified few weeks ago and were meant to promote fairness in higher education. However, these guidelines faced swift criticism for being vague and potentially discriminatory against general category students.
